How Stacks Sorts Tasks

Stacks has six sortable fields by which the task list can be viewed. This level of flexibility helps users quickly find information without having to read through each listed task. Each of the following fields can be sorted up or down (ie: Due Date can show closest dates or farthest).

Let's take a deeper look:

  1. Clients - This term can be changed (via the Settings) based on the type of work you use Stacks for. However, by default this field is the client that the task has been assigned under.

  2. Project - Projects are always tied to a specific client. However, you can have projects that are the same name just under different clients. The important thing to remember is that projects always are in relation to one, and only one, client.

  3. Task - This field contains the task itself and is the only listed field on the Stacks table that can't be sorted.

  4. Urgency - A visual indication of which task on your plate is most urgent. Generally it is used in relation to the due date. This means an urgent task due today would be more important than an urgent task due next week.

  5. Actionable - An actionable task is simply a task that is ready to be worked on. By default tasks are actionable on the day they are do, however, if a start date is added to that task it becomes actionable on that date. This is the default sorting column that most users rely on in Stacks.

  6. Due - The date the task is due.

  7. Assigned To - Who's plate the task is currently on. In the case of a group assigned task the task technically has no owner until it is claimed by someone in that group. Once that person selects 'take task' the task will be placed on their Stack and is then their responsibility.
